The RTITB Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) — Scissor Lift, or Cherry Picker as they are most commonly known — courses are available for the following machines: vehicle-mounted, scissor, telescopic and articulated.

• 1a – Mobile Elevating Work Platform Static Vertical (Static Scissor Lift)
• 1b – Mobile Elevating Work Platform Static Boom (Static Cherry Picker)
• 3a – Mobile Elevating Work Platform Mobile Vertical (Mobile Scissor Lift)
• 3b – Mobile Elevating Work Platform Mobile Boom (Mobile Cherry Picker)

This RTITB Accredited course covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

• MEWP controls and instruments
  • Starting/moving/stopping and steering
  • Operation of hydraulic controls
  • Vehicle loading and unloading
  • MEWP stability
  • The operators’ safety code

Course Durations (for three people):

• Novice candidate: 7.5 hours
  • Experienced (but untrained) candidate: 6.25 hours
  • Refresher (recommended every three years) candidate: 5 hours
  • Conversion candidate: 6.5 hours
